Who's Having Fun Learning?.......EveryBODY!


Our classroom was full of energy as we learned about the human body this week. One of our favorite activities was to work in cooperative groups to create body tracings. 


In one group E. was a tracer and K. was a model.


Another fun job was to label the body parts from head to toe.


Adding internal organs was a important task in the groups

We learned that sometimes its a good idea to check out a bigger model


or an available reference
or even to place a part on our own body to make sure
we were on the right track

 After the organs were placed, more details were added to the bodies.
Check out the veins in this circulatory system!

I'm interested to know more about this activity. Did you teach a week(s) long unit? What books did you read? Was your focus on outside and inside the body? I REALLY want to do this!! Please tell me more if you don't mind. :-) I love anything that gets my kids working cooperatively. This looks like a great lesson. I cannot wait to start planning for my class.

Hi Suzan. This learning unit was three weeks long. One week we focused on the five senses. One week we focused on our body on the outside and the next week we focused on our body on the inside (that we don't see). We used a balloon to illustrate how our lungs work. We used stethoscopes to listen to our hearts. We viewed real x-rays. We watched Brain Pop Jr. episodes (which my school subscribes to). During the focus of the body on the inside we took it slow. One major organ system at a time. (Brain/neuro; heart and lung/circulatory; bones/muscles; a little on digestion too). Hope this helps and thanks for your interest!
