Favorite Classroom Books About Diversity

Next week our Social Studies unit of study will be on Diversity.  This is one of my favorite units to teach because it includes some really great children's books like these.....

One of my very favorites.
A walk around a neighboorhood teaches a little girl
that we are all beautiful shades of brown.

This book teaches that celebrating the uniqueness of others
can make beautiful things happen.
I love the friendly, colorful illustrations in this book.

This heartwarming story celebrates the special talents
in each and every little being that sometimes, at first glance, are overlooked
This book was illustrated by a Kindergarten classroom
You can't beat an oldie but a goodie from our friends at Sesame Street.

Hi Mrs. Pearce -

I like your book suggestions about diversity. Might I suggest a few more titles?

Hello My Name is Bob and Me and You both involve friends who respect and celebrate each other (despite differences). Violet explores the beauty of a mixed race child.
Thanks so much, Carolyn
